For business owners
Heard from us?
Here's what that means.
You received an email or a call from someone at ClosePoint Partners about acquiring your business. This page explains who we are, who we were calling for, and what to expect if you decide to respond.
Who we are
An M&A advisory firm, built on the buy side.
When ClosePoint reaches out about acquiring your business, we are working for one specific buyer with a defined thesis, and your company fits it.
We do not shop your company. We do not send teasers to a mailing list. We make one approach, for one buyer, about one fit.
We are operators first. We have built and sold our own companies and run corporate development from the inside.
Who we call for
What it took for us to call you.
If we have reached out to you about acquiring your business, we are doing so on behalf of a vetted buyer. Before we make a single approach, that buyer has cleared three gates with us.
Operational readiness.
Leadership is aligned on the acquisition thesis, your company fits criteria they set in writing before we started, and there is a team ready to run diligence and integration.
Financing.
Capital is committed, or debt is arranged, before we go to market. We do not approach owners for buyers who still need to find the money.
Ability to execute.
The decision-makers are in the room, the timeline is agreed, and the buyer has done this before or is running it with us.
How we are paid
A retainer, then a success fee.
Our clients pay a retainer before the first approach and a success fee when a deal closes. The retainer filters out the curious: people exploring an acquisition do not pay to have a market mapped; people committed to one do. The success fee means we are paid only when a deal closes, so we take on the clients we believe can get there and turn the rest away.
The result
One specific buyer, with the money, the team, and the intent.
When ClosePoint contacts you, you are hearing from one of the most qualified buyers who will ever approach you. Not a mailing list. Not a teaser. One specific buyer whose criteria your company fits.
What this means for you
Four things to know.
It stays confidential.
Nothing you share leaves our team without your explicit go-ahead. That includes your name, your financials, and the fact that we spoke.
There is no obligation.
A first conversation is diligence for both sides. If it is not a fit, we say so and we do not come back.
We represent the buyer.
We act for the buyer in this deal and we say so from the first call. If you want your own advisor on this deal, you should have one, and it cannot be us.
You control the pace.
After a first call, one of three things happens: it is clearly not a fit and we part ways; it is worth a second conversation with more detail; or we introduce the principal directly. You set the speed at every step.
What to expect
A 30-minute call, and honest feedback.
We share who the buyer is at a high level, what they are looking to do, and why your company is on the shortlist. You share whatever you are comfortable sharing about the business.
The fastest path forward is to reply to the person who contacted you.
